About our Center<\/h2>\r\n

At the Institute for Solid State Physics we engage in a range of activities related to computational condensed matter science, including offering nationwide joint usage of our supercomputing hardware. The two organizations primarily responsible for these activities are the Materials Design and Characterization Laboratory (MDCL) and the Center of Computational Materials Science (CCMS). The MDCL operates various experimental facilities for joint use, and, among these facilities, the supercomputers operated by our Supercomputer Center are the largest. Alongside the parallelization of hardware, the role of software in large-scale computing is becoming increasingly important. At the MDCL, we are pouring our efforts into the Project for the Advancement of Software Usability in Materials Science.<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n
