{"id":6232,"date":"2024-05-29T10:33:33","date_gmt":"2024-05-29T01:33:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mdcl.issp.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/scc\/?page_id=6232"},"modified":"2024-05-29T10:34:16","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T01:34:16","slug":"vasp_guide","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mdcl.issp.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/scc\/en\/vasp_guide","title":{"rendered":"Use of VASP pre-compiled binaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Use of VASP pre-compiled binaries<\/h2>\r\n<p>VASP (Vienna ab-initio Simulation Package) is<\/p>\r\n<p>VASP (Vienna ab-initio Simulation Package) is an ab initio simulation package using plane wave basis and PAW pseudopotentials,<\/p>\r\n<p>A paid license is required to use it.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>The ISSP supercomputer provides license holders with pre-compiled binaries of VASP as well as other physical properties applications.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>License holders who wish to use compiled binaries should apply for registration according to the following application procedure.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>If a license holder downloads the source code from the VASP Portal and installs and uses the software himself\/herself, he\/she does not need to apply for registration.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<h2>How to Apply for User Registration<\/h2>\r\n<p>Users must purchase their own VASP license in order to use the software.<\/p>\r\n<p>VASP6 is not available for users who have a license for VASP5 only.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>If you wish to use VASP compiled binaries, please send the following items,<\/p>\r\n<p>including your name and e-mail address registered as a licensee with the VASP group,<\/p>\r\n<p>to center_at_issp.u-tokyo.ac.jp (change _at_ to @).<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\n&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<wbr \/>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<br \/>\r\nSubject: Application for VASP registration<br \/>\r\n\u00a0<br \/>\r\nID \u3001name\uff08English\uff09\uff1a<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nUser&#8217;s e-mail address\uff1a<br \/>\r\n\u203bID&#8221; is a user ID in the ISSP supercomputer system.<br \/>\r\n\u203b<wbr \/>The e-mail address should be the one registered in the VASP Portal.<br \/>\r\n&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<wbr \/>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nAfter confirming the license status with the VASP administrator, we will set the VASP to be ready for use and contact you with instructions on how to use it.<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nPlease note that you can download the VASP source code based on the license<\/p>\r\n<p>you have obtained and build and use it yourself without going through the above procedures.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<h2>How to use VASP pre-compiled binaries<\/h2>\r\n<div>\u203bTo use VASP compiled binaries on a ISSP supercomputer,<\/div>\r\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0 you need to apply for registration to the VASP group at the ISSP supercomputer center.<wbr \/><\/div>\r\n<div><\/div>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<div>\u203bAs of Tuesday, 2023\/04\/04, on System B (ohtaka) and System C (kugui),<\/div>\r\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0 the previously installed versions of Intel compilers and related libraries<\/div>\r\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0 have been removed from the module list, and the latest version of Intel compiler,<\/div>\r\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0 Intel oneAPI Intel oneAPI has been introduced as the latest version of Intel compiler.<\/div>\r\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0 Below is a description of what is supported by the new Intel oneAPI.<\/div>\r\n<div>\u00a0\u00a0 Please note that previous VASP binaries may not run properly now.<\/div>\r\n<p><br \/>\r\nThe &#8220;makefile.include&#8221;
