Dear ISSP supercomputer users,
Thank you for your continued use of the ISSP Supercomputer System.
We would like to remind you of the security requirements and usage etiquette that must be followed when using the system.
As the following items affect the safety and usability for all users, we kindly ask for your compliance.
Security Requirements
- ・Do not allow anyone other than the registered user to use your account.
- ・Do not share your private key with others.
- ・Do not store private keys on the supercomputer.
- ・Protect your private key with a passphrase.
Usage Etiquette and Notes
-
Avoid heavy workloads on login nodes.
Running many programs or parallel processes on login nodes may negatively impact other users.
Please use debug queues such as i8cpu or i1fat for debugging and parallel compilation.
-
Avoid I/O-intensive jobs in the /home directory.
Jobs with frequent small file accesses in
/homemay degrade system performance for other users.
Such jobs should be executed in the/workdirectory, which provides faster file access.
-
Automatic deletion in the /work directory.
In System B (ohtaka), files under
/workthat have not been accessed for approximately 4 weeks,
and in System C (kugui), for approximately 2 weeks, will be automatically deleted.Users generating large numbers of files are requested to delete unnecessary files proactively.
-
Please help reduce the total number of files.
Even small files can cause issues if their total number exceeds tens of millions, potentially reaching system-wide limits.
This may affect other users. Please reduce file counts by deleting unnecessary files or archiving them when appropriate.
-
Regarding the use of VS Code.
-
When using the Remote-SSH extension, SSH connections may fail due to exceeding process limits,
as it spawns a large number of processes on login nodes.Instead, the use of the SSH-FS extension (v1.26.0) is recommended.
Please note that version 1.26.1 has been reported to cause connection errors.
Thank you for your cooperation.
